The Way of Fruitfulness

Today’s text connects the enacted parable of the fig tree with the religious life of the temple. In the Christian life, it’s possible to display external signs of life like the leaves on the fig tree, yet without bearing fruit. Jesus promises that through faith in God, which connects and roots us to the source of life, we may bear real fruit in a life of dependence upon him.
