The Way of Dependence

In our culture, we tend to elevate independence and the self-made person who pulls themself by their bootstraps. Yet boot-strap spirituality is very self-centered, deluding us into believing we can be our own functional savior. In contrast, today we see Jesus modeling a very different way, the gospel way of dependence on our loving God. Growth in the Christian life is ultimately a result of growing more and more dependent on Christ.
