Much of what the Bible teaches is countercultural. A repeating theme throughout Proverbs and all of Scripture is fearing the Lord. Fear and faith are not opposites, but actually complement each other. As we seek to discipline our children, we understand that the purpose is not wrath or punishment, but rather correction toward righteousness.
