Relating to the Poor

Text: Proverbs 19:14-17; 28:6, 19, 22; 30:7-9
Pastor Curt Stapleton

Today we consider how God instructs us from Proverbs to care for the poor within our reach.  It can be an overwhelming topic and one easy to ignore.  How should we respond to the beggar?  Whom should we help?  Aren’t some people just working the system?  Many of us are taught “Truth and Consequences”, to work hard and save, as the Proverbs affirm for us. But we cannot stop there if Jesus taught, “… whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”  May God lead us in faithfulness for His mission!
